OUR VISION

A key focus is visibility; you cannot be what you cannot see. We are a community group aimed at encouraging and empowering women and girls through the sport of boxing.

Encourage - empower - excel

We encourage everyone to call out and challenge disparities where ever they see them.

The benefits of sport in general and boxing in particular for both mental and physical well-being, are well known. To promote such wellbeing, we organise training and sparring camps, competitive shows and help showcase emerging talent by using a country-wide approach to development.

In doing so, we aim to raise the profile of girls and women in the sport regardless of race, gender, religion, sexuality etc.  as we firmly believe – you need to see it to be it. Role models are essential in a space where so few women are evident, especially at the higher levels.

Disparity in the sport of boxing is tackled head-on and we work to build a strong network that enriches women’s lives. We celebrate women’s achievements and help pave the way for women to perform the roles they choose.

We celebrate women’s achievements

Through personal stories, training footage, and expert insights, this feature for Matchroom Boxing explores how This Girl Can Box is making a real impact in the boxing community and empowering the next generation of female fighters.

Clock it. Challenge it. Change it.

“When I started boxing, I was immediately drawn into the intensity and loved the training; I went through a very tough time...boxing literally saved me. Boxing gave me the release I needed. The pain I carried with me went when I trained, it was essentially my coping mechanism...This Girl Can Box groups and squads played such an important part in my recovery.”

– FEMALE BOXER

“I started training when I was in rehab for cocaine addiction – nearly 12 years clean and boxing has been a massive part of my life and development. One of my only regrets is that I didn’t start training as a child – it would have kept me out of a lot of trouble, given me direction and taught me to have self-respect.

– FEMALE BOXER

“Boxing helps me because when stuff gets bad at home; I get really angry. Now I’m not as angry because of the gym, because of your squads; I have made so many friends through those. I no longer feel alone.”

– FEMALE BOXER (Age 10)
